Claudio Costa - Italian Avant Garde Art

Claudio Costa (1942 – 1995, in Genova) was a Contemporary Artists from the 1970s avant-garde. Costa's artistic production is divided in several different periods. He explored Arte povera, Conceptual Art, paleontologist and anthropological art, alchemic art. As an artist associated with the Arte Povera movement, Costa's first exhibition took place at the La Bertesca Gallery in Genova directed by Francesco Masnata. He produced a series of «tele acide» (acid canvases) (1970–1971), where he deployed a new pictorial language made of symbolical and magic elements by mixing them with materials and glue-earth-bone-blood-acids. Kathleen Gemberling Adkison - Abstract Expressionism Art

Kathleen Gemberling Adkison (July 5, 1917 — 2010), was an American abstract painter.Like Jackson Pollock, Adkison worked with her canvas on the floor. She is recognized as among the first female to do so. However, her focus is based on the natural beauty of rocks, trees, tall grasses and other images she perceived from her hikes with her husband.Adkison was a critically acclaimed artist and highly recognized for her work. She was among only eight women included in Northwest Art Today at the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. She died in August 2010

Léon Bellefleur - Abstractionism and Surrealism

 Léon Bellefleur (1910 — 2007) was a French-Canadian painter and print-maker.
Léon Bellefleur was born in Montréal, Quebec, in 1910, and by the age of ten was drawing and painting.He earned a teaching diploma at Jacques Cartier teachers college in Montreal, graduating in 1929 and had a career in teaching for the next 25 years. He was mainly self-taught as an artist, but took evening classes from around 1929 until 1936 at the École des Beaux-Arts where he expressed his youthful admiration for the work of Rembrandt.

Brion Gysin - Artworks

Brion Gysin (1916 –1986) was a painter, writer, sound poet, and performance artist born in Taplow, Buckinghamshire. He is best known for his discovery of the cut-up technique, used by his friend, the novelist William S. Burroughs. With the engineer Ian Sommerville he invented the Dreamachine, a flicker device designed as an art object to be viewed with the eyes closed. It was in painting and drawing, however, that Gysin devoted his greatest efforts, creating calligraphic works inspired by the cursive Japanese «grass» script and Arabic script. Burroughs later stated that «Brion Gysin was the only man I ever respected.»
